With over 30 years of experience our company has grown from a home-based start-up business, into a leading and trusted supplier of nail and beauty supplies.
Where Our Story Begins
It was 1995 and I was at the pinnacle of my nail technician career and realized I could not expand by taking on any more clients, but I could pass my knowledge on to others. I took a leap of faith and turned my home-based nail studio, into a quaint classroom, followed by Akzentz distribution. Helping others embark on their journey in beauty was my goal. From the modest home-based setup, we have flourished into what we are today, DK Beauty.
Our First Store Opens
It was 1999, and I remember many sleepless nights after signing the lease on my first storefront location on 4th Street SE, Calgary. Was I making the right choice? Was my business really large enough to support this? Would people take me and my small business seriously (at the time called Just Nailz) with so many larger, already well-established competitors? It was nerve-racking at first, but through perseverance, hard work and dedication, we started started to grow. We carried unique product and had extensive knowledge in the industry, as well as offering the training too.
And here we are now.
From Just Nailz to DK Beauty
The evolution from Just Nailz to DK Beauty began when my family members joined the team, helping to further grow and change the business from my quaint boutique shop into something bigger and bolder. We renamed the business to DK Beauty - D for Deborah and K for Kevin, to reflect the expansion into other beauty lines, including aesthetics. We placed a focus on the modern and ever changing needs of nail technicians, and we expanded not only our brand offerings, but we also made the decision to create one of the first online stores for our industry.
While we have seen tremendous growth and successes, we are always ready to do more. It has been an incredible journey so far, which I am humbled by. I truly look forward to the path forward; learning, growing and evolving with this ever-changing industry.

DK Beauty is one of Canada’s leading sources for premium, professional nail and spa supplies. Founded in 1999 by British born entrepreneur, Deborah Jayne Jacklin, DK has grown tremendously since inception. Deborah is an internationally acclaimed and awarded nail educator who brings decades of experience to the industry and passionately shares her knowledge with professionals in the industry through the DK Beauty Academy.
Our company is comprised of two curated teams that support our family-owned business. The core team provides support for our beauty supply operations, while our educators work with our academy to train professionals.
