Founded by Entrepreneur, Nail Technician, and Beautician Deborah J. Jacklin, DK boasts over four decades of extensive experience in the beauty industry. Initially established as a home-based nail school and distribution centre for Akzentz, we have evolved into a leading and reputable supplier of nail and beauty products.
Over the past seven consecutive years, we have been honoured to receive multiple awards for being the most trusted businesses by the CBRB (2021-2026) and Top Choice Beauty & Nail Supplier Calgary and area 7. WHERE THE DK STORY BEGINS ....
In 1995, I reached the zenith of my nail technician career and recognized that I could not further expand my clientele but could instead share my expertise with others. With a bold decision, I transformed my home-based nail studio into a charming classroom, followed by Akzentz distribution. My aspiration was to assist individuals in embarking on their beauty journeys. From our humble beginnings as a home-based setup, we have grown into the esteemed DK Beauty, founded by yours truly, Deborah J. Jacklin.
THE FIRST DK OPENS IN CALGARY
In 1999, I recall numerous sleepless nights following the signing of the lease for my inaugural storefront location on 4th Street SE, Calgary. Doubts plagued me, questioning whether I had made the correct decision and whether my business was sufficiently substantial to sustain this venture. Would the public take my small business, then known as Just Nailz, seriously amidst the presence of numerous larger, well-established competitors? Initially, the situation was daunting, but through unwavering perseverance, relentless hard work, and unwavering dedication, we began to experience growth. Our unique product offerings, coupled with our extensive industry knowledge and training services, set us apart.
And here we are, standing at this juncture.
From Just Nailz to DK Beauty
The evolution from Just Nailz to DK Beauty began when my family members joined the team, helping to further grow and change the business from my quaint boutique shop into something bigger and bolder. We renamed the business to DK Beauty - D for Deborah and K for Kevin, to reflect the expansion into other beauty lines, including aesthetics. We placed a focus on the modern and ever changing needs of nail technicians, and we expanded not only our brand offerings, but we also made the decision to create one of the first online stores for our industry.
While we have seen tremendous growth and successes, we are always ready to do more. It has been an incredible journey so far, which I am humbled by. I truly look forward to the path forward; learning, growing and evolving with this ever-changing industry.

Meet The Team
DK Beauty is one of Canada’s leading sources for premium, professional nail and spa supplies. Founded in 1999 by British born entrepreneur, Deborah Jayne Jacklin, DK has grown tremendously since inception. Deborah is an internationally acclaimed and awarded nail educator who brings over 4 decades of experience to the industry and passionately shares her knowledge with professionals in the industry through the DK Beauty Academy.
The is comprised of two curated teams that support our family-owned business. The core team provides support for our beauty supply operations, while our educators work with our academy to train professionals.
